Some loves will last ’til your dying breath

Every choice has consequences—but seventeen-year-old Layla faces tougher choices than most. Light or darkness. Wickedly sexy demon prince Roth, or Zayne, the gorgeous, protective Warden she never thought could be hers. Hardest of all, Layla has to decide which side of herself to trust.

Layla has a new problem, too. A Lilin—the deadliest of demons—has been unleashed, wreaking havoc on those around her…including her best friend. To keep Sam from a fate much, much worse than death, Layla must strike a deal with the enemy while saving her city—and her race—from destruction.

Torn between two worlds and two different boys, Layla has no certainties, least of all survival, especially when an old bargain comes back to haunt them all. But sometimes, when secrets are everywhere and the truth seems unknowable, you have to listen to your heart, pick a side—and then fight like hell…

What I thought

I have a so much love for Jennifer Armentrout’s books. If only for the fact that they make me laugh so much. Her books have every ingredient to make for a fantastic binge read. I pondered on the rating for a bit, but in the end, there is just no flaw in this book (or the entire series for that matter), so 5 wholly deserved stars it is.

Every Last Breath made me laugh. The dialogue, as in the previous two books, is absolutely great. Layla has a great personality and it shines through in everything she does and says. The dialogue is absolutely top-notch. There’s stories that are character-driven, but Jennifer Armentrout writes books that are dialogue-driven, and she does it flawlessly!

The characters are still awesome. I haven’t made it a secret that I have a big BIG thing for Roth. I think he challenges and pushes Layla to be the best person she can be, and his personality continues to shine in this final instalment. Layla was badass, we saw her grow throughout the first two books and we got to see her at her best in Every Last Breath. Strong, witty, and relatable characters, what’s not to love?

Action all around. The plot was filled with lots of action that made for one fast-paced read. I read it in ONE sitting. There were some moments where we could take a breath, when the characters were resolving an issue, or talking things through, but for the most part the plot was everything and more I wanted from this book.

Final verdict IRISJEXX!I’ve been looking forward to Every Last Breath for a long time. I couldn’t wait to see how the story unfolded (and who Layla ended up with!). The anticipation was enormous, and it lived up to every expectation I had. It had all the feels that come with reading a Jennifer Armentrout book, and all the feels and more after having read the final instalment of a series you love! Explosion of feels!

One kiss could be the last.

Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.

Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever.

Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul.

But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne… it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

What I thought

Holy crap on a cracker! I love this book! JLA is THE queen of writing about guys that you know are bad news, but can’t help falling in love with anyway. Honest to god, White Hot Kiss + Me = Love at first word.

The pace of the story is really good. It felt easy and effortless, yet thrilling at the same time. There were some moments to catch your breath, and then you were thrown right onto another rollercoaster. You can’t help but read this in one sitting (seriously, I think I looked all crazy eyed murmuring ‘must keep reading’ the whole time).

The characters are fun and witty and so damn adorable. Layla was strong and feisty and the guys in this story… *fawns self*. In true JLA style there’s some drool worthy guys in this story. And I’ve picked what side I’m on! #TeamRoth all the way.

I think what I love most about Jennifer Armentrout’s books is the dialogue. It’s just so good and entertaining. It’s what I loved so much about Katy and Daemon’s relationship, the funny bantering and bickering. And White Hot Kiss had the same top notch dialogues as well.

Final verdict IRISJEXX!

White Hot Kiss is a fantastic read. Lots of good plot twists, great romance, awesome dialogue and drool worthy guys to add to your list of fictional crushes. I all but devoured it in a few hours. LOVED it.

What I thought

Stone Cold Touch picks up right where book one left off. With Roth temporarily out of the picture we get to learn more about Layla and Zayne’s relationship. As I am team Roth all the way, I was afraid this book was going to annoy me something fierce. But it didn’t really. View Spoiler » JLA’s books are one of the few where I don’t mind a little love triangle, because they’re extremely well done.

Layla really grows throughout this book. She was already feisty, but she’s fierce and badass when she has to be. Some of her actions had me laughing out loud, others had me pump a fist in the air yelling ‘GIRLPOWER’. She’s awesome.

That ending was absolutely killing. And mean. And really really really damn mean. Meaner than mean. And the wait for Every Last Breath has been killing me (even worse is that I’ll be on holiday and won’t be back until somewhere in August… meaning I have to wait even LONGER). Also, I can’t believe that who Layla is going to end up with is being decided through a poll! I sincerely hope Roth wins that damn poll, if not… I’ll go Thumper on people’s asses.

Final verdict IRISJEXX!I have so much love for this series. I read this series about a year ago and never typed up a review… I just reread them both and IT WAS BLISS. My emotions are through the roof, jumbled and messed up thoroughly. Jennifer Amentrout has all the ingredients to make a story that you won’t be able to put down, the first sentence had me hooked.
